Back to blogging –the essentials for blogging success

  1. blogging increases visibility regarding reputation as a market leader
  2. blogging provides businesses with the opportunity to dialogue with customers
  3. blogging provides businesses with further opportunities to engage in SEO
  4. blogging acts as bait for links
  5. blogging allows businesses to humanize their brands
  6. blogging creates the platform for publishing fresher content, which is essential to better sites

Despite these benefits, it is disheartening to note that a good number of businesses do not have a good understanding of the essentials of blogging. The question each business owner must ask is, what are the features of a good blog? What are the essentials of a good blog?

  • Keyword is in the title

The title for each blog post should feature a specific keyword that the blog will cover.

  • Inbound Links in the blog

Inbound links are crucial in the ranking of the blog. A blog with more, high quality, backlinks will have better SEO ranking. Such sites are higher up the search engine results. Including the inbound links is crucial to the blog’s success.

  • Pick one theme and elaborate on it

If you have more than one topic, create a different blog for it or a series of blogs. For the most part, let each new blog post talk about a single theme.

  • It has a call to action

Examples of calls to action include contact us, come in for a tour or visit us. A call to action is essential to successful blogging. Ideally, the call to action should be at the end of the post.  

  • It is 400- 600 words long

Blog posts should not be too long. Give today’s reader the information they need in a succinct manner.  Use bullet lists and sub heads to make text easy to scan. Therefore, aim to limit his blog posts to between 400 and 600 words.

  • It has a strong visual

Blogs with strong visuals are attractive to readers. Strong visuals include images and bullet points that help capture and retain a readers’ attention. Other blogging essentials worth considering include:

  1. Magnetic Headline
  2. Eye-catching opening
  3. Persuasive writing
  4. Specific subheadings
  5. Strong narrative
  6. Mobile friendly
  7. Good name (URL)
  8. Quotes by/from experts

The good news is that learning the essentials of blogging is not an impossible task. With regular practice, it is possible to learn and be an expert in blogging, thus ensuring that the site ranks higher on search engine results and continues attractive new traffic all the time.
